An agent can read Yoast's SEO score, readability score, and inclusive-language score for a site's most recently modified posts.
citelayer abilities, governed through the Bridge
An agent can read this site's AI-readiness score, llms.txt status, AI bot analytics, referral stats, Schema.org status and SEO-plugin compatibility status, and, once read-only mode is turned off, can trigger a fresh readiness scan or set whether a given post is excluded from llms.txt.

What has to be true first
Needs WordPress 6.9 or later for the Abilities API (the plugin itself supports 6.4+), the plugin active, and its abilities option left on (default). Every ability checks manage_options; the run-readiness-scan and set-llms-txt-exclusion abilities also require read-only mode to be turned off, and set-llms-txt-exclusion additionally checks edit_post on the target post.
- a global enabled option (citelayer_enable_abilities, default on) must be on for any ability to register
- a separate read-only-mode option (citelayer_abilities_read_only, default ON) keeps the two write abilities (run-readiness-scan, set-llms-txt-exclusion) from registering at all until an admin turns read-only mode off; the seven read abilities register regardless of this setting
A note on the count below
9 ability definitions exist in source; only 7 (the read ones) register by default because citelayer_abilities_read_only defaults to on and hides the two write abilities from the registry entirely.

How to switch these on
Four steps from two active plugins to a governed connection.
Install citelayer and Agent Abilities for MCP
Both plugins need to be active on the same WordPress site. citelayer registers its own abilities; this plugin discovers and governs them.
Open the Other plugins screen
In Agent Abilities for MCP, open the Bridge tab (labeled "Other plugins" in the admin). Abilities from every registered plugin appear there, grouped by the plugin that registered them.
Enable one ability at a time
Every ability from citelayer starts off. Turn on only the ones you want an agent to reach, or enable the whole set in one click.
Connect as a least-privilege user
Approve the connection as a WordPress account scoped to what you actually want the agent to do. Each call still re-checks that account’s capability before it runs.

Frequently asked questions
Does citelayer work with the Bridge?
Yes. It registers up to nine abilities directly in the core Abilities API with no MCP server of its own, so the Bridge is the only way an agent reaches them; by default seven of the nine are actually registered.
What has to be true for citelayer's abilities to register?
a global enabled option (citelayer_enable_abilities, default on) must be on for any ability to register. a separate read-only-mode option (citelayer_abilities_read_only, default ON) keeps the two write abilities (run-readiness-scan, set-llms-txt-exclusion) from registering at all until an admin turns read-only mode off; the seven read abilities register regardless of this setting.
Does citelayer need anything special to work with the Bridge?
Needs WordPress 6.9 or later for the Abilities API (the plugin itself supports 6.4+), the plugin active, and its abilities option left on (default). Every ability checks manage_options; the run-readiness-scan and set-llms-txt-exclusion abilities also require read-only mode to be turned off, and set-llms-txt-exclusion additionally checks edit_post on the target post.
More SEO plugins
An agent can read and change Rank Math's SEO, sitemap, redirection, breadcrumb, and website-identity settings, read per-post SEO scores, schema markup, and link reports, run and fix a site-wide SEO audit, and manage tracked brands in the AI Visibility feature.
An agent can read and update a post's SEO title, description, focus keyword and canonical URL, find posts missing SEO data or with low TruSEO scores, manage custom robots.txt rules, and pull a homepage or site-wide SEO audit.
Verified from citelayer's own free wordpress.org code on 28 September 2026, not from its marketing claims. Not every ability listed here has been run end to end against a live site. Plugin authors change their code, so a name, a capability, or a condition can be different in a later release. This site is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Saskia Teichmann or citelayer.
