What has to be true first

wpDataTables must be installed and active on WordPress 6.9 or newer for the Abilities API. Every one of its abilities checks manage_options, so only an administrator-level connected user, not a lower-privilege editor, can use any of them through the Bridge.

A note on the count below

Matches easymcpai's listed count of 17; all 17 ids and annotations verified directly in Infrastructure/WP/MCP/Abilities/*.php, including get-mcp-license-matrix.php (readonly true, destructive false).

How to switch these on

Four steps from two active plugins to a governed connection.

  1. Install wpDataTables and Agent Abilities for MCP

Both plugins need to be active on the same WordPress site. wpDataTables registers its own abilities; this plugin discovers and governs them.

  2. Open the Other plugins screen

In Agent Abilities for MCP, open the Bridge tab (labeled "Other plugins" in the admin). Abilities from every registered plugin appear there, grouped by the plugin that registered them.

  3. Enable one ability at a time

Every ability from wpDataTables starts off. Turn on only the ones you want an agent to reach, or enable the whole set in one click.

  4. Connect as a least-privilege user

Approve the connection as a WordPress account scoped to what you actually want the agent to do. Each call still re-checks that account’s capability before it runs.

Frequently asked questions

Does wpDataTables work with the Bridge?

Yes. wpDataTables registers 17 abilities over its tables, charts, media, and settings, each with a real capability check, so the Bridge can wrap and expose each one once an operator turns it on; the plugin also vendors the official WordPress MCP Adapter library and runs its own MCP server, but that is a second, independent exposure path and does not stop the Bridge from wrapping the same abilities.

Do wpDataTables's abilities register automatically?

Yes, unconditionally, once wpDataTables is active. Nothing else has to be configured for the Bridge to discover them.

Does wpDataTables need anything special to work with the Bridge?

wpDataTables must be installed and active on WordPress 6.9 or newer for the Abilities API. Every one of its abilities checks manage_options, so only an administrator-level connected user, not a lower-privilege editor, can use any of them through the Bridge.

An agent can discover ACF field groups, custom post types, and custom taxonomies that the site owner has opted into AI access, then list, read, create, update, and delete items of those content types along with their custom field values.
