What has to be true first

Needs WordPress 6.9 or later with Meta Box and MB Custom Post Types & Custom Taxonomies both active. The eight fixed definition-management abilities all check manage_options; the per-post-type and per-taxonomy content abilities each check that post type's or taxonomy's own read, create, edit, or delete capability, which is usually edit_posts-family for a post type and manage_categories-family for a taxonomy unless the site owner customized it.

  • For a specific custom post type or taxonomy to get its own content abilities, it must be built and published with Meta Box, and its individual ability toggles (list/get, create, update, delete) must be turned on in that post type's or taxonomy's settings.

This count can change

Only 8 abilities are fixed and enumerable from the code: the always-registered get/create/update/delete pair for post-type definitions and for taxonomy definitions. The remaining ability count comes from a runtime loop over every published mb-post-type and mb-taxonomy post, registering up to 5 more abilities (get, get-metadata, create, update, delete) per enabled type or taxonomy, with ids built as meta-box/{action}-post-{slug} or meta-box/{action}-taxonomy-{slug}; the directory's count of 18 reflects one demo site's specific set of enabled types, which this evidence cannot resolve without that site's live data.

How to switch these on

Four steps from two active plugins to a governed connection.

  1. Install MB Custom Post Types & Custom Taxonomies and Agent Abilities for MCP

Both plugins need to be active on the same WordPress site. MB Custom Post Types & Custom Taxonomies registers its own abilities; this plugin discovers and governs them.

  2. Open the Other plugins screen

In Agent Abilities for MCP, open the Bridge tab (labeled "Other plugins" in the admin). Abilities from every registered plugin appear there, grouped by the plugin that registered them.

  3. Enable one ability at a time

Every ability from MB Custom Post Types & Custom Taxonomies starts off. Turn on only the ones you want an agent to reach, or enable the whole set in one click.

  4. Connect as a least-privilege user

Approve the connection as a WordPress account scoped to what you actually want the agent to do. Each call still re-checks that account’s capability before it runs.

Frequently asked questions

Does MB Custom Post Types & Custom Taxonomies work with the Bridge?

Yes. The plugin always registers eight fixed abilities for managing its own post type and taxonomy definitions, and additionally registers a get/get-metadata/create/update/delete set for every custom post type or taxonomy an editor has built and enabled abilities for, so anything registered is bridgeable but the full list is generated per site.

What has to be true for MB Custom Post Types & Custom Taxonomies's abilities to register?

For a specific custom post type or taxonomy to get its own content abilities, it must be built and published with Meta Box, and its individual ability toggles (list/get, create, update, delete) must be turned on in that post type's or taxonomy's settings..

Does MB Custom Post Types & Custom Taxonomies need anything special to work with the Bridge?

Needs WordPress 6.9 or later with Meta Box and MB Custom Post Types & Custom Taxonomies both active. The eight fixed definition-management abilities all check manage_options; the per-post-type and per-taxonomy content abilities each check that post type's or taxonomy's own read, create, edit, or delete capability, which is usually edit_posts-family for a post type and manage_categories-family for a taxonomy unless the site owner customized it.
